Launch and
Recovery Systems
A tradition of bespoke
design has left us with a large and varied back-catalogue
of launch and recovery systems (LARS) for remotely
operated submersibles. A small sample of these
are shown below.
The re-use of existing designs allows us to offer
launch and recovery systems at competitive prices
but we also regularly produce bespoke units.
All the systems components, Winch, A-Frame, Snubber
and Hydraulic Power Unit can be supplied separately
to interface with existing systems.

(not shown). The skid or deck mounted winch includes
an automatic level wind and constant tension. A-frame
features include telescopic legs, extending deck
and docking snubber with rotate, lift/lower, 2 axes
gimbal and swing damping. Control is either hydraulic
or electric/ PLC and operation via radio or cable-link
remote control. |

Te SWL LARS, 3000m depth rated
A gantry style telescoping launch and recovery system.
These minimise height requirement for launch making
them ideal for launching from enclosed spaces as
well as simplifying the launch process.
In the pivoting
arm configuration shown left the system can be installed
into extremely small spaces in the host vessel which
may previously not have been considered suitable. |

5.5
Te SWL LARS
A compact, tool handling system.
Designed around the specific constraints of clump
weight/ guide wire aligned subsea tools. The trolley
mounted main lift sheave allows the tool to be
recovered to the deck without the constraint of
a through leg lift. Here roller boxes are employed
to handle the large diameter piping which serves
the tool.
